Denmark CVR Number Guide for Freelancers
If you are freelancing in Denmark, registering for a CVR number is your first legal step. This guide covers what it is, when you need it, and how to register.
Every business in Denmark requires a CVR number (Central Virksomhedsregister). This 8-digit identifier appears on all invoices, contracts, and official documents. It is free to obtain via virk.dk, and most freelancers register as enkeltmandsvirksomhed (sole trader).
If your annual revenue exceeds DKK 50,000, you must register for VAT (moms) within 8 days of crossing the threshold. Once registered, you charge 25% VAT, file quarterly returns, and remit to Skattestyrelsen.
Your CVR number must appear on all invoices to Danish clients. For VAT-registered businesses, your SE number is also required. Arbeitly supports all required Danish invoice fields.
